Maschera Hannya

Ornamental mask of the Noh theater representing Hannya, a jealous female demon. Hannya was a beautiful woman, one day she was abandoned by the man she loved, her love was no longer reciprocated, so devoured by her passion she transformed her feeling into anger and jealousy turning into a powerful Demon.
This mask is represented with a large head fitted with horns, two wide open eyes that stare and scrutinize the viewer and an open mouth ready to swallow or at best devour whoever is in front of it. The mask is made of ceramic and has been fixed on a wooden base to hang it on the wall with a purple cord. Measures of the wooden base: 27.2cm x 20.8cm.
