Kokeshi Yosooi (L)
Kokeshi Yosooi (L)
Kokeshi made and hand painted by the award-winning artist Masae Fujikawa, who won the "Prime Minister" award in 1996 and 2002 and the "Minister of Agriculture, forestry and Fishery" award in 1995 and 1996.
The term Yosooi in Japanese means "to dress in formal dress", "to dress with grace". This doll is very elegant, in fact over her green kimono with bamboo motifs she wears a beautiful purple Haori (jacket) whose sleeves are decorated with wisteria flowers (Fuji).
The wood used for the creation of this kokeshi is Mizuki (Japanese dogwood). The kokeshi is 25cm tall and 11cm in diameter. It is accompanied by a wooden plaque, with his name, the name and the stamp of the artist who made it and the original box signed and stamped by the artist is included.
