Kokeshi Naruko

Traditional vintage Naruko style kokeshi made by artist Kazuo Toshiya. Naruko-style kokeshi are born in Naruko Onsen, in Miyagi prefecture, one of the major production areas of Tohoku kokeshi. The most distinctive feature of Naruko-style kokeshi is the production of a squeaky sound when you turn your head. The face with sober features has an innocent and childlike expression. The bust tapers slightly in the central part and chrysanthemum flowers are painted on it.
The kokeshi stands approximately 18cm tall and 4.5cm in diameter. Despite being a vintage piece, it is in excellent condition. At the base is the signature of the artist who made it.
