Kokeshi Otokomae
Kokeshi Otokomae
Rare kokeshi made and hand painted by the award-winning artist Oki Izumi, born in 1956 in the prefecture of Gunma, daughter of the great master Sansaku Sekiguchi. His kokeshi are rare and rich in details, they are pyrograph engraved, and differ from those of other artists for the accuracy of the details.
This kokesahi depicts a Samurai in kimono with his inevitable katana and with the typical hair, called chonmage, which was characterized by a cut that completely shaved the top of the head and collected the remaining long hair, which were greased and tied to form a small ponytail. The latter was then folded over the top of the head and created the characteristic tuft.
The kokeshi is 28cm high and the base is about 9cm wide.
Original packaging is included, stamped and signed by the artist who created the kokeshi.
