Kokeshi Okiniiri
Kokeshi Okiniiri
Kokeshi made and hand painted in a single copy, especially for us of Japanese Crafts, by the artist Chiyomi Horiuchi.
The name of this kokeshi is Okiniiri which in Japanese means "favorite". This kokeshi depicts a young woman wearing her favorite scarf, and even if it is windy or cold outside she is still happy because she has her beloved scarf around her neck that protects her. This kokeshi stands out for the meticulous engraving work and for the joyful expression of the face.
The wood used for its creation is Mizuki (Japanese dogwood). Measurements: approximately 20cm x 7cm
The kokeshi is accompanied by a wooden plate, with its name in Japanese and the name and stamp of the artist who made it and a black wooden base. The original packaging is included, signed and stamped by the artist and the kokeshi is kept inside a small bag made from scraps of a kimono.
