Bunka SG2 Matte 200mm
Bunka SG2 Matte 200mm
Bunka handmade by the Suncraft company in the city of Seki, in the prefecture of Gifu, Japan. The blade is made of SG2 steel, which is one of the best stainless steels. SG2 is a powdered steel from Takefu steel mills. Powdered steels are currently the hardest steels available for knife making, which means the knife will keep a smooth and sharp edge for a long time. The blade measures 200mm and has a hardness of 62-63 Rockwell, features a matte and non-glossy finish with a very pronounced line at the bottom of the blade. This line indicates the boundary between the two softer outer layers of steel and the sturdy SG2 steel core.
The handle is made of dark brown pakka wood, octagonal in shape, and fits well in the hand. Pakka wood consists of laminated wood and epoxy resin, is very durable and does not stain easily.
The Bunka is a very versatile knife and can be used for both fish, meat and vegetables.
